Mourning

A long time ago
I packed it away.
Buried it deep
So I could move forward.
But somehow it got out.
It captured me
And now it won’t let go.

I can’t move forward.
I’m stuck.
Stuck in the middle of it;
Drowning in it;
Buried and gasping for air;
Trying to break free.

Free from the past.
Free from the pain.
Free from the life
That would not be.
So I can move forward
For real.
And finally
Live.

My mom was a nurse and her stethoscope was as much a part of her uniform as, well, her uniform. I remember her using it to check my lungs whenever I was sick or had bad allergies. For me, a stethoscope is a very special reminder of a field of work my mom loved and was very proud to be a part of. Nurses will always have a special place in my heart. What medical field holds a special place in yours?

Of orca whales and inverse Dalmatians…It doesn’t take a zoologist to appreciate the quirky patch pattern of these lampwork glass bead hearts. The white patch patterns embedded in the dark purple glass harmonize well with the spots and patches found in the animal kingdom, without being directly borrowed.

My mom wasn’t able to cook often when I was little, so when she did it was extra special. This measuring spoon charm reminds me of her manicotti, birthday cakes, and making Christmas cookies together. What special cooking memories does it remind you of?

Winter has fallen.Pewter echos moonlight, snow, frost, mist, cold. Acorns and pine cones are classic symbols of the woods. Of oak trees shedding nuts and leaves for winter. Of pine trees staying green, needles and cones carpeting the ground and filling the sky.

Check out the very first episode of Table Top, created by Felicia Day and Wil Wheaton! They did a very good job of clearly explaining the game rules and it was fun to watch. I’m totally sold on the game and Small World is now at the the top of my wishlist. On a side note, my new life dream is to play a board game with Wil Wheaton. :)
